Siobhan Scanlan

Head of Inclusion

Siobhan Scanlan is a highly accomplished Irish teacher who has been working in the education sector for over 10 years. Her journey in education began in Ireland, where she worked for four years in an international school before moving to Dubai in 2016 to join GEMS Metropole School – Motor City as a Foundation Stage teacher. Siobhan has excelled in her career, working her way up to become the FS leader of pastoral care within only one year.

Her passion for inclusive education then led her to join the Inclusion Department as the Deputy Head, where she has been instrumental in helping students with additional needs, English as an additional language, and gifted and/or talented students reach their full potential. Her leadership has been reflected in the outstanding growth of the Inclusion Department, which has increased its rating from Good to Very Good by the DSIB and received Outstanding features in a BSO inspection. Siobhan's dedication to inclusive education and her commitment to creating an environment where every child can succeed has been recognised by the school community.

In 2021, Siobhan led the development of an innovative alternative curriculum class called Unity in partnership with Neuropedia Children’s Neuroscience Center to provide additional support to young students with more significant special needs. The programme has been highly successful and has provided students and their families with a unique opportunity to grow and learn in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Given her impressive track record and passion for inclusive education, Siobhan has now been appointed Head of Inclusion in GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha with the goal of building a community that allows every child, despite their needs, to reach their full potential. Her leadership will be critical in achieving this goal and continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of students and their families, preparing them for a life beyond school.
